HARRY MAGUIRE has opened up about the buzz Cristiano Ronaldo's sensational return to Manchester United created, while also sharing his regret at how it ended.
Ronaldo first made waves at Old Trafford under Sir Alex Ferguson from 2003 to 2009, before a record-breaking £80million move to Real Madrid.
United supporters were thrilled when news broke that Ronaldo was set to make a comeback to Old Trafford in 2021.
However, his final stint with the Red Devils didn’t live up to expectations.
Despite netting 18 Premier League goals under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Ralf Rangnick in 2021/22, which saw United finish sixth, he reportedly became frustrated with the team’s performances.
Following a fallout with new head coach Erik ten Hag, Ronaldo laid bare his feelings, leading to a mutual termination of his contract in November 2022.
Maguire says Ronaldo's homecoming initially brought a renewed energy to the dressing room, despite the eventual outcome.
