CPR for baby at store... this is the reality of his 1-in-a million condition

THE family of a baby boy airlifted to hospital following a medical emergency at a Tesco store have released a statement.

Rupert Smith, who has an extremely rare genetic disorder, suffered a "sudden episode and deteriorated very quickly" while at the supermarket at Broughton shopping park in Flintshire on Monday.

Emergency services, including the Wales Air Ambulance, were called to the incident before Rupert was airlifted to Alder Hey children's hospital in Liverpool.

Yesterday, Rupert's dad Dave Smith, a Flintshire police sergeant, issued a statement thanking everybody who rushed to help their seven-month-old son.

He has recently been diagnosed with Alternating Hemiplegia of Childhood (AHC), a condition that affects approximately one in one-million children.
