74 people ill and 16 hospitalised in outbreak

THERE'S been a big increase in the number of people falling ill due to a parasitic infection after interacting with animals at a farm in Wales.

Public Health Wales (PHW) has confirmed that its ongoing investigation into a cryptosporidium outbreak at Cowbridge Farm Shop has now identified 74 people who have become sick, an increase from 47 the previous week.

It’s also emerged that the outbreak has led to 16 people requiring hospitalisation for at least one night. PHW has warned that these figures may continue to climb over the next week due to the incubation period of the infection.
