THE RSPCA in Denbighshire has launched an emergency appeal to prevent the closure of a much-valued veterinary clinic. The animal charity said its Rhyl facility has been hit hard by rising costs.

£295,000 EMERGENCY APPEAL TO SAVE RSPCA CLINIC

A Crowdfunder aims to raise £295,000 by July 1 or the clinic will close. The appeal has been rolled out by RSPCA Clwyd and Colwyn, an independent charity that sits under the national RSPCA umbrella.

The branch sets out to provide affordable veterinary treatment across North Wales, and also supports low-income pet owners and people on state benefits. Last year it saw 1,581 cats, 1,385 dogs and 150 other animals at its Rhyl clinic on Vaughan Street.

RSPCA Clwyd and Colwyn branch manager Kieren Barlow said running costs have taken their toll.

"We are working through such a challenging environment at the moment," he said.

"Rising costs and expenditure has hit us hard.
