Britain could be at risk as 100s of militants escape jails in Syria amid fighting

BRITAIN could be in increased danger from the Islamic State terror network after an outbreak of violence in once Kurdish-controlled parts of Syria.

Battles between Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces and government soldiers have led to hundreds of ISIS prisoners already being freed.

Thousands more, including jailed ISIS prisoner and former East Londoner Shamima Begum, could also be freed, escalating the terror risk to the UK.

The Kurdish Rudaw website puts the figures higher. It says that upwards of 1,500 Islamic State militants could have escaped already as the SDF lost control of Shaddadi prison during fighting with government troops in the north.
