Kyra, 11, unlawfully killed in water park tragedy

AN 11-year-old girl who drowned at a water park was unlawfully killed following gross breaches in health and safety, a coroner ruled.

Kyra Hill got into difficulty in a designated swimming area of a lake on August 6, 2022.

The only “warning sign” related to shallow water despite parts reaching a depth of 15.3ft at Liquid Leisure near Windsor, Berks.

There was also no emergency plan and no risk assessment, despite a council's concerns.

Senior coroner Heidi Connor said: “I have considered the failures were serious and the risk of death clear.”
