A CHURCH warden jailed for murdering and defrauding a university lecturer has had his case referred to the Court of Appeal.

The conviction of Ben Field, 34, could be ruled unsafe due to exceptional circumstances, the Criminal Cases Review Commission has said.

Field killed Peter Farquhar, 69, after manipulating him with a campaign of physical and mental torture.
