Princess is praised over her empathy during fight

- RUSSELL MYERS

Our vision of hope

THE Princess of Wales has been hailed for changing the lives of people who are living with cancer, exactly a year on from revealing her own devastating diagnosis.

Our future queen had her life as a mother-of-three and a working royal turned upside down and yet has emerged positive, dedicating herself to helping others hit by the disease.

Kate, 43, marked her return to duties in January by announcing she was in remission and would take on a new role with the hospital that treated her throughout her ordeal.

imageIn her post as joint patron of The Royal Marsden with husband Prince William, Kate spoke of her hope to “save many more lives, and transform the experience of all those impacted by cancer”.

Dame Cally Palmer, chief executive of The Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust, heralded the Princess's new role.

She said: “The Princess's support for the hospital stems from a deep empathy for those facing similar challenges, and a shared commitment to improving outcomes for people affected by cancer.
