HS2 engineering only 60% done, says rail project boss

STRUCTURAL work on HS2 should be almost finished by now but is only 60% complete, a project leader admits.
Mark Wild said delays were due to starting the project before designs and planning consents were finalised.
The HS2 Ltd boss blamed cost overruns on contract issues, the pandemic and inflation.
