Compact station for 11 hours of detention

THE police station in which Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor was questioned is one of Britain's smallest, with just half a dozen cells built in 2010.

No details have been given about the exact process he would have faced at Aylsham Police Investigation Centre, in Norfolk, although most people taken into custody are photographed, fingerprinted and swabbed for DNA before being taken to a cell or interview room.

Retired senior detective Peter Bleksley said: "The indignity for somebody like Andrew - I'm sure it would've come as a very rude awakening to a member of the Royal Family.” Inside the station, according to the ex-Met man, Mountbatten-Windsor will have then faced forensic and strategic questioning.
