Al Capone & trophy wives? Trump's weird speech a drag
Daily Mirror UK
|May 26, 2025
DRAFT-DODGING Donald Trump turned the annual West Point commencement ceremony into a bizarre ramble, praising Al Capone while discussing "trophy wives".
The speech, which stunned observers, was delivered to the US military's 2025 graduating class.
It lasted over an hour and frequently strayed from honouring newly commissioned officers.
Instead, Trump mocked marginalised communities and revisited grievances.
It came as war continues to rage in Ukraine despite his boast to have it ended within a day in January.
Wearing a red MAGA cap, Trump said he had "liberated our troops from divisive and demeaning political trainings".
