ADB supports SL's first performance based NRW PPP project in Galle

The Asian Development Bank (ADB) is supporting the Government of Sri Lanka in developing the country's first performance-based public-private partnership (PPP) to reduce non-revenue water (NRW) in Galle, a key coastal city in the south.

The project will help modernize the city's water distribution system, reduce water losses, and enhance financial sustainability in the sector.

The proposed PPP led by the National Water Supply and Drainage Board and the Ministry of Urban Development, Construction, and Housing will target a significant reduction of NRW in Galle by reducing physical water losses and increasing billable water. This would translate to a significant improvement in service delivery, revenue generation, and resource conservation.
