Clean Sri Lanka Task Force reviews progress on 2025 financial year projects

THE Clean Sri Lanka Task Force on Tuesday (17) reviewed the progress of a series of projects launched for the 2025 financial year under the 'Clean Sri Lanka' program, a flagship Government initiative as part of its broader vision of fostering 'A Thriving Nation, A Beautiful Life.'

The review meeting held at the Presidential Secretariat was chaired by Secretary to the President and Clean Sri Lanka Task Force Chairman Dr. Nandika Sanath Kumanayake. The meeting brought together representatives from multiple Ministries and their affiliated departments, corporations, boards, and institutions involved in the initiative.

One notable project discussed is a plan to operate 10 purpose-built buses for people with special needs from Panadura, Kadawatha, and Avissawella to the National Hospital in Colombo. This initiative is a collaboration with the Sri Lanka Transport Board, marking the first time such a service will be implemented in the country.

Additionally, there are plans to create a virtual city centred around Kandy, expected to be completed within a year. This pilot project will also encompass the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic premises and is estimated to cost Rs. 50 million.
