CHOCOLATE digestives have turned 100 years old — but the way we have eaten them for 10 decades is upside down, say maker McVitie’s.

The nation’s favourite biscuit to dunk into a cuppa was launched in 1925-33 years after the plain variety.

Both got their name from the belief the baking powder in the recipe would boost consumers' digestion.

But despite the centenary — which saw London landmarks being lit with images of the chocolate treat — and 80 million packs being sold each year, Britons are clueless when it comes to consuming it.
