Weight-loss jabs for thousands in £85m NHS deal

THOUSANDS will get free weight-loss jabs from pharmacies and apps as part of a new £85million government deal with the manufacturer of Mounjaro.
The programme from Eli Lilly and the Department for Science, Innovation and Technology has been designed to look at how obese patients can access weight management care more easily.
Eligible patients could be treated “in months”, said Health Secretary Wes Streeting. The Government will contribute up to £50million with Eli Lilly putting in £35million.

NHS organisations can apply for funding and use it to run a pilot to build evidence for efficient obesity care, including using chemists and the web.
