They should not have to worry about groups of unidentified, fighting-age men roaming their neighbourhoods.

Parents should feel safe letting their children play outside. Women should be able to walk to the shops alone without fear. Everyone deserves to feel secure in their own home.

This is a first-world nation. For most of history, the UK has been protected from both internal and external threats — thanks in part to its geographic isolation, but more importantly to governments that prioritised the safety and wellbeing of their own citizens.
