TV bosses face new rules to end sexual harassment
Daily Express
|December 09, 2024
THE growing number of TV sex scandals including the latest claims against MasterChef co-host Gregg Wallace may see broadcasters hit by fresh statutory regulations, Culture Secretary Lisa Nandy has warned.
The Cabinet minister is looking at imposing fresh industry standards to address sexual harassment and power imbalances between stars and more junior staff, according to Government and media sources.
It follows scandals involving some of TV's biggest names including the conviction of BBC newsreader Huw Edwards for making indecent images of children.
Ms Nandy will this week meet representatives of the Creative Industries Independent Standards Authority, that was set up to root out bullying and harassment in the TV, film, music and theatre industries.
