Tragedy in Spain as young British siblings drown in sea
Daily Express
|July 31, 2025
A BRITISH brother and sister, aged 11 and 13, have drowned in Spain after getting into difficulties swimming in a strong current.
Emergency services were called to Llarga beach in Salou on Tuesday evening and rescued the siblings' father, who was in the water with his children.
Catalonia civil protection officers confirmed yesterday the children were a girl and boy.
Their names had not been released last night. It had previously been reported that they were both boys.
Chief Inspector Jose Luis Gargallo, of Salou Police, said: "The sea was rough and it was dangerous to swim. When it's like this, you have to be very careful."
