Polling by Whitestone Insight also shows that sovereignty still resonates strongly as an issue, with 60% believing Brexit reflected a desire for the nation to remain independent with its own identity and traditions.

It suggests that even the voters who now think it was a mistake to leave the EU still recognise and respect the motives behind it.

Furthermore, there is no overwhelming appetite to reverse Brexit, with sentiment settled into a position of “make Brexit work” rather than “undo Brexit”.
