The niece of a Kenyan woman allegedly murdered by a British soldier has called for his extradition.

- By Conor Wilson

Agnes Wanjiru, 21, was found dead in a septic tank near a military base in Nanyuki in 2012 two months after her disappearance.

Her niece Esther Njoki, who was just eight when her “extrovert” aunt was killed, met Defence Secretary John Healey in Britain on Tuesday to make the case for the suspect to be sent to Kenya to face justice.

Speaking to the Daily Express yesterday she said: “It is important because we have suffered as a family for 13 years. The law applies to all.

Consequences

“If you break the law then you have to face the consequences and, by doing so, he should be taken to where he committed the crime.

“It also means that he learns a lesson and other people learn lessons through him.”
