"Terror threat is rising' as prison camps emptied

The former manager of Al-Hol detention centre - 90 miles from the Al-Roj camp where Begum is being held - fears that they were either taken away to be radicalised once more or smuggled out of the country.

The Kurdish-led Syrian Defence Force, which fought alongside the US and Britain in the war against Isis, used to control the facility.

But it was forced to abandon it last month when troops loyal to the new Syrian government launched an offensive against Kurdish regions in the country.
