Single people face losing 25% discount on council tax bills

LABOUR has refused to rule out axing the single person council tax discount.

Council leaders have asked the Government for the power to decide if the 25% reduction will be applied in their areas.

But Housing Secretary Angela Rayner has so far dodged questions about whether she will give in to the demand.

Campaigners have warned that the move will hit pensioners hard, especially after the winter fuel allowance cut.
