Second drone strike blasts Moscow tower
Daily Express
|August 02, 2023
A SKYSCRAPER housing Russian government offices has been hit for the second time in two days in fresh drone attacks on Moscow.
Several other drones were shot down in the early hours of yesterday, said mayor Sergei Sobyanin.
The attack will be seen as hugely embarrassing for Vladimir Putin's regime which has failed to defend the capital against aerial attacks.
The damaged building houses teams from Russia's ministry of economic development, the digital ministry, and the ministry of industry and trade.
Emergency
Russia's defence ministry blamed Kyiv for the latest attack, which the Kremlin denounced as "Ukrainian terrorism". Ukraine made no official comment, but on Monday President Volodymyr Zelensky warned in a rallying speech that "the war is returning to the territory of Russia".
That followed the first attack on the skyscraper on Sunday night.
In a brief statement, Sobyanin said that "glazing was destroyed over 150 square metres" and that emergency services were working at the scene.
