Bullied children and attacked teachers ‘are being failed’

A THIRD of parents would consider having their children taught at home amid fears of bullying and classroom safety, a survey found.

The NASUWT teaching union said staff have also reported being spat on, punched and even headbutted.

It comes days after Education Secretary Bridget Phillipson unveiled an initial wave of 21 schools to serve as “attendance and behaviour hubs”.

‘The survey of 2,000 parents of five to 16-yearolds, commissioned by homeschooling ‘college Wolsey Hall Oxford, showed mums and dads worry so much that 30% would consider educating children at home instead.

Of those, 43% cited bullying and 34% mental health fears as their top concerns. And 38% of parents said their child had felt unsafe at school.
