Putin's pledge to defy Trump over India oil

The Russian despot asked why India should face penalties for buying his country’s oil when the US still buys nuclear fuel from Moscow.

US president Donald Trump has imposed 50% tariffs on most Indian goods, arguing that India’s discounted purchases of Russian crude have helped fund the war in Ukraine, an accusation India firmly rejects.

But Putin, in New Delhi alongside Indian prime minister Narendra Modi for the 23rd Russia-India summit, said: “The United States itself still buys nuclear fuel from us for its own nuclear power plants.
