Policeman abused his job to spy on lover's husband

A POLICE officer has been barred from his force for spying on the husband of a woman with whom he was having an affair.

Scott Norman abused his position to further the relationship, a hearing was told. He was found guilty of gross misconduct for all four allegations he was accused of and would have been sacked had he not resigned during the investigation.

PC Norman, who was based in Oxford and worked in the intelligence unit, was barred from serving with Thames Valley Police.

It was said he was in a relationship with a woman referred to as “Mrs X”, who was the wife of a man named only as Richard.

Between 2021 and 2022, Norman accessed police records on an internal system called Niche a total of 14 times for non-policing purposes.
