PM beset by critics, wherever he turns

SIR Keir Starmer faced criticism from Labour colleagues on all sides of the debate after setting out plans to recognise a Palestinian state.

Labour Friends of Israel, chaired by MP Jon Pearce, said the announcement “will change nothing on the ground and will damage our reputation as an impartial broker”.

Meanwhile, MPs on the left of the party attacked the Prime Minister for saying the final decision about whether to recognise Palestine as a state would depend on decisions made by Israel and could be delayed until September.
