Sturgeon tearful at inquiry
NICOLA Sturgeon choked back tears yesterday as she admitted part of her wishes she had not been Scotland's First Minister during the pandemic.
And the former leader revealed she regrets the loss of life caused by the virus "every single day".
She told the UK Covid-19 Inquiry: "I was the First Minister when the pandemic struck.
"There's a large part of me wishes that I hadn't been, but I was, and I wanted to be the best First Minister." Ms Sturgeon, 53, who quit the top job in March last year, became emotional again as she denied suggestions the Scottish Government had used the pandemic for political purposes.
