No ready-made solution

THERE'S no point in denying it: I love a food show. Give me one of those over some doomy-gloomy documentary any day.

Especially on a Monday. Who needs to kick off the week on a downer?

So, imagine my joy when I cast an eye over tonight's schedules and saw READY MEALS: WHAT THEY REALLY MEAN FORYOU (9pm, BBC1).

Okay, I prefer a meal prepared the traditional way, but to acknowledge the part that ready meals now play in our busy lives, and to celebrate how much they've improved in recent years, well, good on the BBC for doing that, right?

Expect it turns out that's not what it's doing here. Stupid me.

What it's doing is telling us that ready meals are bad for the planet.

Yes, it's the Net Zero thing again. Ready meals, this programme wants us to know, contribute significantly to the UK's carbon emissions.
