Devastating claim by Blair think-tank
ED Miliband has been warned by Sir Tony Blair's think-tank that green technology is "unlikely" to create an employment bonanza.
It said the Energy Secretary's claim that the drive to net zero will create more than half a million new jobs is overstated.
The Tony Blair Institute for Global Change or TBI urged caution about "over-selling" the transition because it is "unlikely to drive a revival in UK manufacturing employment".
It predicted at best green industries could grow from 0.8% of GDP and 200,000 jobs in 2022 to 5.8% and 1.2 million by 2050.
