Navalny posthumously wins this year's top book award

RUSSIAN opposition leader Alexei Navalny, who died in a penal colony in February last year aged 47, was honoured with the Book of the Year 2025 at the British Book Awards.

His memoir, Patriot, published in October and championed by the anti-corruption campaigner’s widow Yulia, also won the non-fiction gong, beating works by Boris Johnson, Gillian Anderson and Sir Chris Hoy.
