Mellon makes it a hat-trick as he takes Oldham up

MICKY MELLON is only the second manager to take three clubs into the Football League after Oldham’s glorious escape at Wembley.

With 10 minutes of the National League play-off final left, the Latics looked beaten.

But in a duel between clubs who had stood on the edge of oblivion, two goals in as many minutes, from substitutes James Norwood and Kian Harratt left Southend desolate.

Mellon, who led Fleetwood [2012] and Tranmere [2018] into the EFL, will have the freedom of Oldham after emulating John Still’s hat-trick of promotions.
