TIME FOR GERAINT TO MAKE LAP OF HONOUR
GERAINT THOMAS will bring the curtain down on a golden age for domestic cycling after announcing this will be his last year in the peloton.
The Prince of Wheels the most recent Briton to win the Yellow Jersey on the Tour de France, in 2018, - will ride into the sunset on home soil in September's Tour of Britain.
He will do so as one of the all-time greats who won an Olympic gold on the track, in both Beijing and London, before conquering the sport's ultimate test of endurance.
Known simply as 'G', Thomas consecrated his popularity by winning the BBC's Sports Personality of the Year seven years ago.
