King buoyed by the public's tributes to Darling Mama

KING Charles and Camilla marked the first anniversary of Queen Elizabeth II's death yesterday with prayers at a private church service
They celebrated her life and reign during an intimate sermon at Crathie Kirk, near Balmoral Castle and a favourite haven of reflection for the late monarch.
The clearly emotional King and his wife made the short journey from the royal Aberdeenshire estate to the small church where successive sovereigns have worshipped since Queen Victoria.
Afterwards, both were visibly moved as they were warmly greeted by well-wishers who laid flowers, bouquets and cards in an outpouring of affection.
Tearful Charles, 74, who acceded to the throne a year ago yesterday after the passing of his "darling mama", was buoyed by the show of support. He said the tributes were "wonderful" as he spoke to the public, including schoolchildren, who passed on condolences.
On an emotionally charged day, drenched in late summer sunshine, the King and Queen were joined by the late Queen's niece and nephew, Lady Sarah Chatto and the Earl of Snowdon, who were exceptionally close to their aunt.
Reflective
The earl was accompanied daughter, Lady Margarita Armstrong-Jones, and Lady Sarah by her husband Daniel and children Samuel and Arthur.
The Rev Kenneth Mackenzie, minister of Crathie Kirk, who took the service, said: "It was a simple reflective time, a time where we were able to give thanks for the life of the late Queen and recognise the poignancy of this day for that family and this community, as well as the nation and Commonwealth." In a stirring show of support, royal staff who served the Queen at Balmoral and who were working on the day she died, were also among the congregation.
