I'll root out abuses of power says BBC's new chairman
Daily Express
|November 06, 2024
THE new BBC chairman will oversee a workplace review following a string of recent scandals, insisting: "We clearly need to do more." Dr Samir Shah, 72, said he is determined to "root out abuses of power" as he begins his £162,000-a-year role at the corporation.
His comments come following the Huw Edwards sexual images scandal and recent controversy about the alleged behaviour of Strictly Come Dancing stars.
Dr Shah admitted the public perception remains that "powerful people get away with" things in the aftermath of the Edwards case.
