Labour MP slammed over '£700 rent rise' after tenants' removal

LABOUR'S homelessness minister resigned last night amid a furious row over her rental property.

Rushanara Ali stepped down just hours after reports emerged she had hiked the rent on a property she owns by hundreds of pounds, just weeks after turfing out the previous tenants.

In a resignation letter to the Prime Minister, the Labour MP for Bethnal Green and Stepney said remaining in the role would be “a distraction from the ambitious work of this Government”.
