ADIL RASHID is in no hurry to follow kindred spirit Moeen Ali into retirement - and is relishing his role as elder statesman in the white-ball rebuild.

At 36, Rashid became the first England spinner to reach 200 ODI wickets on Saturday, another laurel to add to his status as the world's No.1-ranked Twenty20 bowler.

Trailing Australia 2-0 with three games left in the ODI series, it is win or bust for England if they can dodge the rain in Durham today.

With skipper Jos Buttler missing because of a calf injury, Rashid is the oldest player in the squad by five years.

And he was astonished to discover, after his tailend cameo in Saturday's 68-run defeat, that his longevity makes him the current side's leading run scorer.
