Fury as judge names police marksman who shot dead unarmed rapper Chris Kaba, 24

OFFICERS have spoken of their fury following a court decision to name an officer who shot dead unarmed rapper Chris Kaba.
Martyn Blake, 40, denied murdering the 24-year-old during a brief appearance at the Old Bailey yesterday.
The marksman was given rare anonymity at his first appearance in court last year due to an alleged risk to his life.
But he can now be named following an application to overturn the order, which officers branded the "biggest mistake in policing history".
The Met Police had been plunged into crisis and the Army placed on standby when dozens of officers handed in their weapons after their colleague was charged.
But the decision to name Blake, taken by Judge Mark Lucraft, has prompted renewed warnings that firearms officers will hand in their weapons amid a lack of support.
This could leave the public more exposed to terrorists and the most dangerous criminals, it was said.
A serving officer told the Daily Express the decision had "smashed confidence" and warned some may now consider whether it is worth carrying a gun.
Rick Prior, acting chair of the Metropolitan Police Federation, said: "The federation and the colleagues we represent are hugely shocked, saddened and concerned over the decision to name the firearms officer involved in this incident.
"We still await the results of the Home Office's accountability review into operational policing, but it goes without saying that our police officers must have full confidence that they have the protection needed to do this difficult dangerous and job society expects of them.
"Being firearms officer in London is one of the world's toughest jobs.
"Officers, who volunteer for the role, know the responsibility and accountability that comes with it.
