TOMMY FLEETWOOD will target closing the ‘clear gap" to Scottie Scheffler and Rory Mcllroy at the top of the world rankings in 2026.
The world No.3 is now the nearest pursuer of the top two after winning his first PGA Tour event at the Tour Championships and claiming his eighth DP World Tour title in India.
The Ryder Cup star will start his new campaign defending his Dubai Invitational title today, with Masters champion Mcllroy also in the field.
Fleetwood held off the Northern Irishman to win this biennial event in 2024. And the Dubai-based star claims he now has an “amazing opportunity” to overhaul golf's two superstars, who will go down as all-time greats.
“I would love to,” said Fleetwood.
