Fire-hit towns facing 'biblical catastrophe'

GREECE was facing a "biblical catastrophe" last night as wildfires forced thousands to flee their homes.

Buildings, cars and olive groves were destroyed as blazes fuelled by scorching temperatures and high winds swept north of Athens.

Marathon's 7,000 residents were moved to safety as the fire advanced on the Greek capital 25 miles away.
