‘Eat kiwi fruit and rye bread for constipation’

KIWI fruit could be better than some laxatives for easing chronic constipation, researchers claim.

Instead of shelling out for costly supplements, sufferers should head to the fruit bowl, according to the analysis led by King's College London.

Rye bread and high-mineral-content water could also help alleviate symptoms in adults.

Some probiotics, magnesium oxide supplements and psyllium fibre supplements are also useful.

However, popular methods such as senna supplements or a generic high-fibre diet showed no strong evidence of making a difference in the analysis of more than 75 trials.
