Murdered dog walker's partner tells court of last message before she was attacked
THE final words of a dog walker to her partner before she was fatally assaulted were: “Drive safe, I love you,” a court heard yesterday.
Lorry driver Richard Jones said he would keep in touch with Anita Rose by phone while he was working away and they spoke early on July 24 last year - the day she was found with traumatic head injuries.
Roy Barclay, 56, of no fixed address, is on trial for her murder.
Prosecutors previously told Ipswich Crown Court he was “on the run trying to avoid the police... and avoid being recalled back to prison”. He denies the charge.
