Doctor Who star's career is in ruins after £70m libel defeat

Clarke, 49, sued the Guardian newspaper over an investigation in which he was accused of sexual misconduct by more than 20 women.

It published seven articles and a podcast accusing Clarke of using his power in the film and TV industry to prey upon and harass women.

An article in April 2021 said 20 women who knew him professionally had come forward with allegations of misconduct, including bullying, harassment and sexually inappropriate behaviour.

Clarke, who is also a writer and director, has always denied that he behaved inappropriately.

Yesterday Mrs Justice Steyn dismissed Clarke’s libel claim and said the newspaper succeeded in defending its stories on the grounds of truth and public interest.
