Town hall broke its own noise limits
A CLOCKTOWER has ceased chiming every 15 minutes after 137 years because the council responsible realised it was breaching its own noise laws.
The bells of Birkenhead Town Hall now toll just on the hour, upsetting some locals.
Wirral Council admitted the frequency was changed after a single complaint led their own environmental health officer to rule the sounds were a "statutory noise nuisance".
