Demand for Euro-style insurance for health

WE should switch to Dutch-style social insurance to pay for medical care because the NHS is “unfit for purpose”, says a report.

The Policy Exchange warns Britain performs worse than almost all its peers on health outcomes while spending more taxpayer money.

The think-tank urges a gradual transition to a system where employers and employees jointly pay premiums along lines similar to the Netherlands, France and Germany.

It would be universal with competition among providers and insurers regulated.
