Decorated ex-Marine cleared of spying and free to leave the UAE

A HEROIC former Royal Marine arrested in Dubai on suspicion of spying was yesterday cleared and told he is free to leave the country.
Matthew Croucher, 40, who was awarded the George Cross for bravery while serving in Afghanistan, was arrested in November and banned from leaving the United Arab Emirates pending a police investigation.
The soldier-turned security consultant was charged with "intentionally and illegally accessing a telecommunications network".
It is understood he was questioned for over six hours by Dubai's Criminal Investigation Department over his links to the Ministry of Defence.
Officials reportedly seized an electronic device, which Mr Croucher said was for his day-to-day job in security testing, after obtaining a warrant to search where he was living.
