Climate change behind dangerous humidity levels

CLIMATE change led to record levels of global humidity last year, posing a rising health risk.

A Bulletin of the American Meteorological Society report found 2024 set a record for the levels of atmospheric water vapour and number of humid days.

Climate change is driving the increase as a warmer atmosphere can hold more moisture.

When combined with rising temperatures - with last year reporting record heat globally - the increase in hot, humid conditions is bringing more people into "potentially life-threatening situations," experts warned.
