The 19-year-old, a Blue since he was in the Under-eights, struck his maiden senior goal four minutes into a much-improved second period having moved into the No.10 role vacated by Cole Palmer, who was substituted following a dour 45 minutes.

Noni Madueke, Palmer's replacement, swiftly followed up with a clinical double to deflate a spirited but limited Legia Warsaw, though his second came after Christopher Nkunku's penalty was saved.
