Baby wrapped in 1910 newspaper was born up to 200 years before

Many questions around the infant's death remain unanswered after the discovery almost two years ago including how he ended up wrapped in a newspaper dated 1910.

Floorboards

The inquest heard that it has not been possible to determine exactly when the baby was alive despite carbon dating and DNA profiling. But it is believed it was some time between 1726 and 1812.

Contractors found the skeleton under the floorboards at a flat in Bishop Auckland, County Durham, in July 2024. The remains have been confirmed as male but they could not be identified further.
