SHARES in Sainsbury's surged after the FTSE 100 supermarket giant held brief talks to sell Argos to Chinese e-commerce giant JD.com over the weekend.
SHARES in Sainsbury's surged after the FTSE 100 supermarket giant held brief talks to sell Argos to Chinese e-commerce giant JD.com over the weekend.
The price jumped almost 5% in early trades yesterday to 322p, the highest for the UK's second largest grocery chain since April 2014 when shares were changing hands for 323p.
Sainsbury's shares started 2025 priced at 275p and have been as low as 228p in April. On Saturday the retailer said it was in discussions regarding a potential sale of its Argos business to JD.com, one of China's biggest retailers.
